At The recent St George's Day parade held at Little Gaddesden, Rikki Harrington presented a very special award to Eleanor Terrett who was involved in Scouting here in West Herts.
It is called the Chief Scout's Commendation for Meritorious Conduct and is a rare award. Last year only 35 were awarded in the whole country.
The citation on the certificate signed by Bear Grills reads "for enthusiastically embracing life and serving others despite limitations brought about by illness"

Eleanor is an outstanding example to others. She was an enthusiastic Young Leader and Assistant  Scout Leader before going to Portsmouth university studying psychology. She is now taking a postgraduate certificate in Education and hoping to become a teacher. While studying she is continuing her Scouting as an Assistant Scout Leader with 8th Portsmouth and has done all the training for her wood badge. She has also completed all elements of her Gold DofE Award with the exception of her physical activity which she is currently working towards. She has also been sailing twice with the Ellen MacCarthur Cancer Trust.

Next year Eleanor is invited to Windsor Castle to attend the parade there and to attend a special reception meeting amongst others the Chief Scout.

Many congratulations Eleanor.
